Overview[]

General Xeth is regarded as one of the most heroic Dwarves the present century has produced. As one of the leading figures of the Dwarven Rebellion. Xeth’s reputation as a man of unquestionable bravery and strength has caused many Dwarves to join his cause and follow him to whatever end he strives to accomplish.

Lore[]

Early life

A lot of Xeth’s childhood is shrouded in mystery, and what little that is known is not well documented, as the man is purposefully vague about his past, proudly declaring that “a true Dwarf should be known for his accomplishments of the present and not the follies of his youth”.

From what little that can be inferred from Xeth’s own shared experiences of his past it is known that he once aspired to become a master blacksmith, just another in a long unbroken bloodline of famed blacksmiths and runesmiths.

Though the year remains uncertain, Xeth has on occasioned mentioned an event in which he and two close friends went out to gather mushrooms and herbs for the healer of his village, but that a large bird humorously snatched the basket away from them; forcing them to return with their pickings in their bare hands. This accident would eventually come to save Xeth’s life, for as the trio returned late they would find that their village had been set ablaze by the armies of King Mordegald, on the suspicion of harboring rebels.

Xeth’s resolve

Though he had once been an aspiring blacksmith, Xeth’s life had now taken a dark turn and diverged onto a path that would make him one of the mightiest and most capable commanders in Dwarven history.

After the king had put his home to the torch, he also ignited Xeth’s heart with a thirst for vengeance and justice for his fallen kinsmen. By burning the village to the ground Mordegald had ironically created the very enemies he so feverishly sought after.

Xeth would find no rest wherever he roamed in the world, constantly haunted by the misdeeds of the tyrant king. He would wander far and wide, seeking sanctuary in remote villages before moving on, restless and without a true aim or purpose, save for a growing desire for revenge.

And as he wandered through the mountains of the northern reaches of the kingdom, he would have an epiphany in which he called out to the Gods, praying for their favor. And it has been said that Melagor, God of the Mountains, heard his plea, and in return for Xeth’s right eye bestowed upon the vengeful blacksmith his hammer: Helmdor; with which he had once formed the Malakas Peak in the world’s infancy.

With the hammer of the Gods in his hand, Xeth would find his new purpose in life, to bring justice to King Mordegald and avenge his village. In his travels to the north, he would inspire other Dwarves to join his cause. Including the reclusive Hersirs, the figureheads of the Ursines, whose loyalty he would win from a victorious arm-wrestling competition. He further impressed several northern communities of mountain-dwelling Dwarves by single-handedly erecting a statue of the famed hero Fagrast, thus proving his devotion to his cause. He solemnly declared that just as Fagrast had bested the Orcs, so too would he best Mordegald or die trying.

Present day

Xeth has, ever since those days of aimless wandering, formed a new clan; the Helmdor Clan, and has remained in open rebellion ever since he made himself known to the public. Though King Mordegald has declared Xeth and his loyal followers as enemies of the crown, nothing has swayed the hammer-wielding warrior’s resolve to overthrow the grim monarch once and for all.

Despite the tyrant’s vast forces, the Helmdor Clan has so far managed to remain undetected; making their plans in the midst of the dangerous mountain ranges. And as Xeth continues to gather his forces, the prospects of a successful rebellion looks promising indeed.
